Popular Moustache Styles

Can you remember Charlie Chaplin’s Moustache? How funny his expressions were appeared with his toothbrush moustache! But when you look closely, that toothbrush moustache is the same style moustache on Adolf Hitler’s face.  Suddenly you’re thinking of a very angry person, and Chaplin’s moustache popularity is quickly referred to as a Hitler moustache. That is how moustaches can have an impact on your overall appearance.

Though many people often consider moustaches as an old fashioned and filmy 70′s thing, there are also a lot of people who love their moustache just as they love themselves. The longest recorded moustache holder is Bajansinh Juwansinh Gurjar from India. Moreover, many celebrities and renowned personalities are famous for their unique moustache styles.  Aside from the Wilford Brimley, there are a plenty of styles of moustache, such as classic chevron, Hungarian, comical handle bar, Fu Manchu, Dali, pencil, and the as noted toothbrush moustache.  Popular moustache styles also include the more attention grabbing Imperial, Horseshoe, and Walrus moustache.

Different men find their own style from these popular moustache styles. These moustache styles slightly differ from one to another. While some moustache styles are wide and thick enough to cover the top of your upper lips area, some can be as narrow as a line on your upper lip. Some moustaches are shorter (toothbrush style), some are long enough to have curly ends (comical handle bar style), and some are as thin as a pencil (pencil style). Some styles are a bit similar in nature and hard to distinguish. For example, people often get confused between Fu Manchu and Horseshoe.

While many people like to have only a moustache, keeping their cheek and chin cleaned and shaved, some people prefer a combination of both goatee and moustache on their faces to have a more characteristic look (think of the Balbo Beard). If you are planning to grow a moustache, you should find the most suitable one according to your face shape. If you feel like not having the desired look of only with a moustache, you can consider growing your goatee or any other facial hair style. In that case, make sure you pick a perfect beard style that matches with your moustache style.

The Dali moustache style came from the name of Salvador Dali, a Spanish painter, who also wrote a book dedicating to his moustache. The Fu Manchu style, a similar moustache style like horseshoe, came from a fictional character FU MANCHU.  You feel like writing a book to commemorate your facial hair designs?

Choosing the Right Goatee for Your Face

Goatee style facial hairs are very popular today, and have been for the last few decades. You can see this shaped beard style worn by construction workers, rock stars and Hollywood celebrities. Most guys like this style because it makes them look mature, distinguished, or just bad-ass. Here are some ways on how you can make goatee facial hair suit your face.

You have to know which part of your face you want to cover up. You can examine yourself in the mirror so you can see what part of your face you want to cover up with facial hair. If you have high cheekbones, this can be highlighted by a goatee. Scars and facial blemishes can be hidden by goatee.

If you are planning on growing a goatee, browse the internet or look at fashion magazines for models and actors who sport goatees.  You could also consider going to a stylist to get their opinion on whether the goatee will suit your facial structure. You can also ask the opinion of your close friends and family. They are the ones who can give you an honest opinion whether you should go ahead or not. However, the final decision is still up to you.

If you have already grown your goatee, you have to maintain and groom it regularly. Use a reliable electric razor for your trimming and maintenance. You can use aftershaves and always brush away all the excess hairs. Remember that a well trimmed facial hair always will make you look sharper and cleaner.

What’s the Best Beard Style for Bald Men?

Choosing the type of beard to grow if you are bald is important, especially if you want the facial hair to complement your look. The first thing that bald men should always take into account is that it might not be a good idea to grow a full and long beard because the look will just not balance out. A modest or lighter beard style can greatly improve the look of a man with no hair.

The most popular beard style for bald men is the goatee. Hollywood actors have worn goatees with a shaved head and they look great in the movies. The secret to a good looking goatee is the trimming and shaving to make it look sharp and clean. You can shape the goatee on the chin in vertical lines or slightly curved, it depends on the style you like. The excess hair on the goatee is trimmed to make it look cleaner and well groomed.

Another beard style that bald men can consider is the chin strap. This is a strip of facial hair along the jaw line and it can be narrow or wide depending on what you like. If you want to make it look thinner, you just have to trim it down.

For a more natural and manly look, you can go for the all-over stubble. This is the easiest facial hair to grow because you just allow the stubble to grow but do not allow it to become a full beard. Trim it once in a while to prevent it from becoming a full beard. If you really want the stubble to look very natural, do not try any additional shaving on the neck, cheeks and jaw.
